Trying on a wedding dress for the first time is such an exciting experience, but can also be really overwhelming. Over the years I have spoken to so many brides regarding this journey, including the positive and negative experiences.

Here are a few tips to help you make the right choice!
Know Your Budget
Be clear about your budget before you start trying on dresses. Wedding dresses can vary widely in price, so setting a realistic budget helps you narrow down your options and avoid heartbreak if you fall in love with a dress outside your price range.
Dress for Comfort, Forget the Frills
Often brides will do their hair, make up and tan so they can get the "full look" when trying on dresses. Not only can this be an issue for the bridal store (white dresses pick up every mark) but looking the most raw version of yourself can help you choose a dress that really shows off your natural beauty. Leave all the frills for your actual day and keep the consult about the dress. Wear comfortable beige underwear and a strapless bra. This will help you get a true sense of how the dress fits and feels.
Be Open to Different Styles
Even if you have a dream dress in mind, be open to trying on different styles. Sometimes, what you think you want might not suit your body type or your vision for your wedding day, and you may find something unexpected that feels even better. Trust the bridal specialists at the store, as you would trust a hair dresser or mechanic, these amazing women know their stuff!
Bring a Supportive Crew
It's helpful to bring a few close friends or family members with you, but avoid overloading the group. Too many opinions can make the decision harder. Choose people who will be supportive, positive, and whose judgment you trust. This can really make or break an appointment, so if they don't fill your cup, they should not be invited!
Go for Inspiration, Not Just to Try on Ready-Made Dresses
Even if you're leaning towards a bespoke dress, visiting bridal boutiques for fittings can still be a valuable step in the process. I often advise brides to go and try on dresses to see what is on the table, off the table and a must! Take this opportunity to be inspired and make sure that your dream dress is not out there.
